The brief
The Municipal Hotel is a sensitive conversion of a Grade II* listed civic landmark into a luxury hotel. The project required service access solutions across guest room bathroom suites that would remain discreet within tiled finishes, while staying robust and practical for long-term maintenance.
The challenges
- Heritage constraints: Work needed to respect the character of a historic building and high-end interior detailing.
- Luxury tiled finishes: Panels had to disappear into the bathroom design with a flush, consistent tile line.
- Space limitations: Some locations required access where hinged openings were impractical.
- Maintenance practicality: Panels needed to support routine inspections and safe access over time.
The solution
Rapid Access Ltd supplied specialist ceramic tile access panels tailored to the bathroom specification.
- Ceramic tile lift-out wall access panel: Ideal where space is tight and a hinged door would be restrictive, while keeping a flush tile finish.
- Ceramic tile wall access panel (hinged): Used where more frequent access was required and the layout allowed a hinged opening.
- Consistent finish details: Beaded frames supported clean integration, with powder coated RAL 9010 (30% gloss) for a neat, consistent look.
Installation and delivery
Panels were supplied to suit different room layouts and constraints across multiple floors. Lift-out panels supported full removal when needed, while remaining secure during routine checks. Hinged panels were used in areas where access was more frequent or straightforward.
The result
- Seamless service access to plumbing and electrical systems without compromising luxury tiled finishes
- Panel types matched to room constraints across multiple floors and bathroom layouts
- Clean, consistent visual integration across guest bathroom interiors
- A maintenance-friendly solution suited to long-term hotel operations
